Fees and Rebates

Clinical and General Psychology Services

Medicare

If your doctor has assessed your case and decided that you require the services of a psychologist, then he/she will give you a referral with a Mental Health Care Plan which allows up to 10 individual Medicare rebated services in a calendar year.  After 6 visits your referring doctor will assess your progress and decide whether further psychotherapy is indicated.
Medicare rebates are available with both general and specialist clinical psychologists but vary depending on the length of the session and the type of service provided.

Fees

We are committed to providing affordable mental health services and will discuss fees with you at the time of consultation. Please let us know if you have special circumstances (eg. disability/concession cards).

Unless your therapist has agreed to bulk-bill you, therapy sessions are not fully covered by Medicare and will incur an out of pocket expense.  The full fee is payable on the day of treatment, however your rebate will be refunded into your bank account immediately with presentation of a bankcard linked to either a savings or cheque account.

The current rebate under a GP Mental Health Care Plan for individual service is:

$ 124.50 for specialist Clinical Psychology and
$ 84.80 for general Psychology.

Information on Medicare rebates is available from www.health.gov.au

Private Health Rebates

Private health insurance cannot be used in conjunction with a Medicare rebate, and rebates from private health insurers vary considerably so you will need to check the level of ancillary cover with your insurer Medicare prior to your appointment.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

If you have a DVA Gold Card, there is no out-of-pocket expense for therapy. A referral from your GP or Psychiatrist is sufficient.

DVA White Card holders can also access therapy with no out-of-pocket expense for a small range of psychological conditions including depression, anxiety and stress. If you are unsure whether DVA will cover your therapy, please contact the DVA Health Provider Line on 1300 550 457 (Metro) or 1800 550 457 (Non Metro).

WorkCover Claims

Our psychologists are registered with WorkCover. If you have a WorkCover claim, and it is recommended that you receive psychological therapy as part of your rehabilitation package, there is no out-of-pocket expense for therapy.

Cancellation Policy

If an appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, we generally require 48 hours notice. If less than 24 hours notice is given prior to cancellation, the full consultation fee may be charged.
